2017 Fiat Qubo Engine
The Qubo has ways that are surprising in a car on the move. The steering wheel is adjustable for reach and rake, and the shift lever is well positioned. The 1248cc MultiJet turbodiesel that we tested is quite refined and feeds the Qubo at a respectable pace. It is certainly more propulsive than its 16.5sec 0-62mph and 97mph top speed suggest. A large 140 lb. torque available from 1750 rpm helps.
The rest of the engine range includes a higher version of the MultiJet, developing 95bhp and 147lb ft which cuts the 0-62mph at 12.2sec and increases the maximum speed to 106mph. A 1.4-liter gasoline-free gasoline engine is also offered, producing 75bhp and 87lb ft, performance is not its strong suit but it stops right through the gears and feels faster than its 0- 62mph of 16.2sec suggests. Even so, the engine must work hard to maintain momentum at the speed of the highway, especially when faced with an inclination or an overtaking requirement.
