Nissan has updated its 2018 selling price spreadsheet and it appears that the entry-level price of the most stripped GT-R sports cars in the US can be reached for around 100 people. That’s right, for $ 99,990, you can get behind the wheel of a 2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo.
The front of the 2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo looks a lot like what we’ve had in recent years, only with a few light updates. For example, the new GTR has pushed some muscles around the hood and has a little extension around the arches of the front wheel. Over the years, the GTR has been a little tonic and has reduced some of its fat, if any. The side is largely unchanged from the last few years, it seems, but the back side has a little love this time around. There is also a bit of aerodynamics and heat pipes down and on the hood of the car. There have been rumors that the new GTR would be completely overhauled for the 2018 model year, but the scope of the revision will likely leave due to the fact that the Nissan GTR has grown since the early 1970s and the first generation of modern body style in the early 90s. However, it has retained the same general formula. The rendering of the apparent 2018 Nissan GTR is completely diverted from the formula that we see and see for decades. I find it almost impossible to believe that they will change the car as much.
A dominant complaint of most Nissan cars today and for years and years is that their interiors are simply. With regard to these two exceptions to the Nissan rule I have stated before (370Z and GTR), the interior aspect remains the same. Very dull and simple. But in these two performance vehicles the plain interiors make a lot more sense. Both cars are focused on the thing and only one thing, the driving experience. In this case, it is logical that the interiors are not fancy and dotted with leather sewn by hand. This would remove the purpose of the car. Although you obviously spend most of your time inside the car and it should be pretty, this rule is different for the driver’s cars. The interior of a performance car like the 370Z and GTR are made to help the experience, such as giant tachometers, performance steering, telemetry and more.
The race car uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine paired with an electric motor. A five-speed sequential transmission with a carbon clutch and pneumatic shift paddles provides 1,240 horsepower on the ground. One can expect almost exactly the same system in the 2018 GT-R, detuned to still make monstrous power, but not quite out Veyron.
The 2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo will keep the four-wheel drive front, despite rumors that a central engine switch was planned. It seems like the fans want a mid-engine match between the Corvette and the GT-R, but it looks like it’s still years.
