2019 Audi RS 5 – It seems that the rumors were true because apparently, Audi is preparing a very first RS5 Sportback. At first glance, it looks like we’re dealing with a rather standard S5, but the devil is in the details. These plastic wheel arch extensions are wider tracks while the rear has oval tailpipes for RS models only.
The prototype may look like one of the many testers we saw for the S5, but if you look a little closer, you’ll notice the slightly pumped wings to accommodate a wider track. Larger air intakes were also dug at the front and rear, with 2019 Audi RS 5 shaped exhaust tips.
The V-6 with two 2.9-liter turbochargers, which develops 450 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, is common to all three. The 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive at the rear will also be standard. For better handling, buyers will be able to add a rear differential that divides the torque between the rear wheels.
Other Audi Sport upgrades will include unique aerodynamic elements, reinforced brakes (including available carbon-ceramic units), available magnetic suspension suspension and carbon fiber elements. All this should result in a 0-60mph time of less than 4.0 seconds. The maximum speed set for the RS 5 range is 155 mph or 174 mph depending on the selected option.
While the 2019 Audi RS 5 coupe starts at 80,900 euros in Germany and 70,000 dollars in the United States, its more practical counterpart will be more expensive. Reports indicate that the model is heading to the United States in contrast to the previously mentioned Avant, which for some will be the most desirable of the three.
