2019 Mazda 3 – Mazda wasted no time burying its new SPCCI engine in a suitable cradle to show off its capabilities. After a short drive in a prototype, I found a mileage 15% higher than a similar sedan Mazda 3, made more impressive
Against the tape measure, the KAI is still slightly shorter than the current 2019 Mazda 3. It is also much shorter in height, at 1375 mm. The broad appearance is supported by the numbers on paper, however – it is 60 mm wider (at 1 855 mm), while the rear wheels are pushed up to the bumper thanks to a wheelbase that has been stretched 50 mm.
Inside, the sleek exterior design is reflected in a clean layout, with a horizontal door-to-door dashboard. A widescreen infotainment system extends from the passenger door to the steering wheel, but the car forgoes an entirely digital display of the instrument in favor of three evenly spaced dials.
The new 2019 Mazda 3 with 2.0-liter Skyactiv-X multi-pass protection engine is the new update of 2019. The final calibration and tests are not yet complete, but compared to the Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine. ‘today, it should provide between 10 and 30% more torque and economy enough to allow a shortening of the axle ratio for a double whammy in terms of acceleration without slop.
EPA figures will not be available before launch, but an increase of 20 to 30% is expected. This would classify Skyactiv-X even with the fuel economy of the Skyactiv-D diesel engine of almost 2.2 liters, but at a cost that is not quite halfway between that of the G and D. How did they manage this tour? By turning on this gasoline engine like a diesel.
Mazda knows how to drive. Basically, everything the company does has a kind of driving soul. This includes the 2019 Mazda 3, which is not only beautiful inside and out, it could be the only three-row SUV on the market that is not a problem to drive. And this new generation, starting in 2019 with the SPCCI engine, should give us more.
