2019 Porsche Cayman – These are the first clichés of espionage showing the work of Porsche on a hardcore version of the Cayman 718, which will either replace the GT4, or try to adopt the more provocative name of the GT4 RS brand.
Like the 718 Boxster and Cayman, the visual differences between this car and the outgoing car are hard to spot, but they are there, and it’s a different car. It’s on a new platform and is wider and longer than the last generation. It has larger air intakes in the front fascia and a thin horizontal bar of light at the rear. That’s how you can make a difference.
As these recent spying photos show, it looks like the GT4 is coming back now that Porsche has finished tinkering with the 911 GT3. While the Cayman has recently received a turbocharged four-cylinder engine (with a new numeric name: 718), it is likely that the high-speed versions of the mid-engined coupe remain naturally aspirated. As always, a manual transmission will probably be the only one available.
While the latest 2019 Porsche Cayman GT4 used a 3.8-liter six-cylinder, some rumors say this model will sport a larger engine like the 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine used in the 911 GT3. It will have to be detuned in this model so that it does not encroach on the territory of the 911, but expect to do more than the 385 hp that had the previous model GT4. If you need more proof that a new engine is running, the configuration of the poor exhaust in this mule gives the impression that the car manufacturer is testing something different.
