The current Macan was released in 2014 and has not changed much since. The car received a small revision with the 2016 model year but this included only a new model as well as some new features. It now seems that a bigger update will be released with the upcoming 2019 Porsche Macan. Even though the car has not been officially confirmed, the new model was spied on the open road. The prototype was heavily camouflaged but even so, the details were still clearly visible through all this camouflage.
What we can expect, based on camouflage as well as common sense, are new headlights / graphics, a larger spoiler lip, slightly modified front and rear bumpers. However, the biggest change could be the new tail lights, which we expect to be of the “Panamera LED Strip” variety covering the full width of the rear.
Inside, the updated Macan should receive the latest Porsche infotainment system, as well as capacitive touch surfaces like in the Panamera, although we had to wait until we looked inside to be sure.
It’s unclear what Porsche reserves for Macan’s powertrains. One possibility is that we see an added hybrid plug-in option, most likely coupling a V-6 with an electric motor built into the transmission. We do not expect the overseas Macan S Diesel to arrive here, due to the withdrawal of the Volkswagen Group from diesel engines.
Currently, we are waiting for the debut of the 2019 Porsche Macan updated in early 2018. It should arrive in the form of model 2019.
